- Manager of Procurement - Nursery, TX
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field preferred; associate degree with equivalent experience considered
Experience Required
- 5 years experience managing inventory for an organization with multiple locations; 10 years experience in procurement, purchasing or materials management, utility industry experience preferred.
- Responsible for procurement and materials management function for all Cooperative locations.
- Plans directs, and coordinates activities of Warehouse Clerks and Purchasing Agents and guides the activities of Warehouse Coordinators and any employees involved in purchasing materials, products, and services on behalf of the Cooperative.
- Responsible for overall management of inventory and control for all locations. Ensures sound procedures and practices are in place to maintain adequate levels of inventory to meet planned and unplanned demand.
Working Conditions
- General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, photocopier, file cabinets, and calculator.
- Manual dexterity, ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds, ability to reach, bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. May be required to work after hours including weekends and holidays.
Typical Functions
- Analyzes spending across all locations to facilitate cost-reduction initiatives.
- Develops and implements sourcing strategies.
- Continuously monitors and improves purchasing key performance indicators.
- Works cross functionally ensuring other department’s purchasing requirements are understood and met.
- Directs, supervises, and assigns priorities to purchasing and warehouse staff ensuring compliance with safety and corporate policies.
- Manages vendor relationships, agreements, and contracts.
- Responsible for governance of material master and purchasing master data elements.
- Oversees and manages warehouse operations including replenishment, storage, movement, and accounting of both inventoried and non-inventoried materials to achieve optimum operations with available warehouse resources and space.
- Develops and implements inventory management strategies to facilitate categorization, planning, and counting of all inventory-managed items at each Cooperative facility.
- Performs other duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned.
