CoBank Sharing Success 2020

"Sharing Success" is a charitable matching contribution program provided to CoBank’s participating customers. This year, customers were able to nominate up to four qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations for a minimum of $250 and maximum of $2,500 each. The maximum matching contribution per CoBank customer is $10,000. The program is annually reviewed by the CoBank Board of Directors with regard to both continuing the program and the amount of support to be provided.

South Texas Electric Cooperative, Inc. is a proud participant in the CoBank "Sharing Success" program because we feel this program is a great way for us to give back to the communities we serve.

STEC's CoBank "Sharing Success" recipients for 2020 are:

Community Action Committee Victoria 

On June 10, 2020 South Texas Electric Cooperative provided a charitable donation in the amount of $2,500 to Community Action Committee Victoria through STEC’s Charitable Giving and Corporate Support Program. CoBank matched the donation through the Sharing Success Program in the amount of $2,500.

Community Action Committee of Victoria is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that delivers hot meals 250 days a year (Monday through Friday) to residents in DeWitt, Goliad, and Victoria Counties. The delivery of a hot, nutritious meal helps the recipient to remain independent and able to live in their own home. The visit is also a wellness check. The Community Action Committee of Victoria also distributes coats, blanket, and other necessities.

 

Laredo Regional Food Bank

On June 15, 2020 South Texas Electric Cooperative provided a charitable donation in the amount of $2,500 to the Laredo Regional Food Bank through STEC’s Charitable Giving and Corporate Support Program. CoBank matched the donation through the Sharing Success Program in the amount of $2,500.

The Laredo Regional Food Bank was established in 1983. They serve over 60 food pantries in Webb, Zapata, and Jim Hogg Counties. They are known for preparing 25 to 50-pound emergency food bags containing purchased and donated food items. They provide a vital service for the 3 counties they serve.

 

Jamie’s Ranch for Special Kids

On June 15, 2020 South Texas Electric Cooperative provided a charitable donation in the amount of $2,500 to Jamie’s Ranch for Special Kids through STEC’s Charitable Giving and Corporate Support Program. CoBank matched the donation through the Sharing Success Program in the amount of $2,500.

Jamie’s Ranch for Special Kids is a special needs recreational and fun ranch for all ages. The organization was created when the Mitzel’s who saw how beneficial ranch experiences were to the class mates and families of their special needs daughter, Jamie. They continued hosting special needs kids and became a nonprofit organization in 2015. Their vision is to provide a place for special needs kids to have fun. They strive for all ages and abilities to enjoy a wide variety of inclusive activities. They offer horse riding, petting and feeding animals, outdoor games, hay rides with scavenger hunts, crafts, photo ops, and music.

 

Loaves and Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley

On June 16, 2020 South Texas Electric Cooperative provided a charitable donation in the amount of $2,500 to Loaves and Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley through STEC’s Charitable Giving and Corporate Support Program. CoBank matched the donation through the Sharing Success Program in the amount of $2,500.

Loaves and Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley started as a food kitchen and is now a full-service shelter with locations in Harlingen and Raymondville. Their goal is to provide each individual and family with the assistance, the tools, and the preparation to grow and develop; eventually becoming a positive contributor to society. They offer many services including the Bread of Life Dining Hall, Family Emergency Assistance, Great Physician Healthy Living, The New Hope Job Shop, Harvest Table Food Pantry, and Open Arms Homeless Shelter.
